Walking In Someone Else's Shoes

   Walking in someone else’s shoes
What would you feel like if you had shoes that had five or even seven
holes in them? How would you feel? I no how I would feel if I had
holes in my shoes. I’d feel incredibly cold , extremely humiliated and
also very sick because my feet were so FREEZING cold!
I bet if I lived there I’d walk instead of paying for petrol and save up
my money. I’d do this to get every person that lived there lots of food,
water, and medison as well as new shoes of course! That is what I’d
do for them.
If you're reading this right now don’t accuse these people of being no
good just because of what they look like or what they don’t have.
The most important thing is what they do and how they treat this
world. The negative things people say about them is not fair. Just
remember what you would feel if every day you struggled to survive.

Walking in someone else’s shoes

By looking at this person’s  shoes I noticed that they didn't have a good life.
I imagined that he had to use uncomfortable materials for clothing and
probably didn’t have much food so he had to go without a lot of stuff.

Just so you know you should never judge someone without knowing the
whole story. You may think you know, but by doing this you are judging
someone. Not good!   Always think about others and make the lives of
other people better. There are little children that need food, school and
a home. There’s also some children like us that have horrible diseases
that they could die from.

Many of us are not helping or donating to make other people healthy are
we? We need to look at our world carefully and to take a walk in someone
else’s shoes and help change their life.

I think the problem is our responsibility clearly. We’re not good enough to
be open minded about others. Hopefully this will change after you take
a trip into their life. This  brings me back to the point where people should
walk in another person’s shoes. Some people are even taking from them.
I do not think this is okay. They are probably living in cold broken houses
with air coming in and no warm balnkets. if you were them your life would
be miserable. Imagine!

Remember before opening your mouth to say something nasty about
another person walk a mile in their shoes because one step in a stranger’s
shoes is all it takes to learn a lot that you never knew.
Thanks for reading or listening!!!!!!! =)

What is a Narrative Recount?
·     We discussed the purpose and goal of the task with focus on the use of emotive language to create an emotional effect / connection on the reader.

Children had to place themselves in another person's shoes. First we unpacked the theme within the video and modeled the possible thought process with setting up of the story. We discussed the use of flashbacks for effect.

What is a Narrative Recount?

·     We discussed the purpose and goal of the task with focus on the use of emotive language to create an emotional effect / connection on the reader.

- What is the purpose of flashbacks?

- This video was also linked to the impact of bullying on children growing up and how this impacted on his life. Character strengths were discussed.

Basic lesson format

- Discuss the purpose and criteria.
- View video twice. The first time without interruptions and the second time at specific scenes to gauge the understanding and to highlight specific information.
- Peer and share on how to start their stries. Teacher modeled the introduction using think alouds and prompting to help scaffold the thought process. Children would also share their work at the end of each writing session.
- The above would happen again for the main body of the text and finally the conclusion
- Teacher would then model how to edit and revise  on a piece of work from the children.
" This is a very good piece of writing but today we are going to make it great"
- Children would go and edit and revise their work.
- Finally children would publish their work on their blogs to allow family and other people to view them. This gave writing another meaningful purpose.

Being free

I remember back in the day seeing an old man on top of a building. I could tell it was an old man by his long grey hair. He was training an eagle to fly away and come back to him. He told me to follow him, so I did. I got to fly the eagle. I felt happy seeing the eagle traveling free swooping in the peaceful sky.

When I was a child, I got bullied every second of the day. I wanted to be free just like the eagle.

So I climbed a mountain. It was filled with white snow, as fluffy white clouds passed over the highest peaks. I stopped on a wavy field of grass and woke up in the morning. I felt as cold as ice, so I had a cup of hot chocolate. I packed my things for another hike to the top of a taller mountain.

As I stood on the edge of a humongous mountain and cliff, I thought about all of those bad memories that had haunted me all my life.  I was about to take a huge risk using my character strength of bravery. I thought about what the old man whispered to me. Those  two words “Be free and feel free”.

As I saw the birds soaring through the sky, I leaped off the cliff. As I was flying beneath the clouds, my mouth was opening and closing. I could feel the wind shoot into my lungs making my lips vibrate and my heart beat faster and faster.

As I landed I felt the  freezing snow as I came to a skidding stop and fell against the icy snow landing on my hands.

I felt so free like a wisp of spirit floating in the beautiful blue sky.

I got bullied when I was younger. People would steal my lunch and tip my bag upside down, all my stuff would fall out.

One day I saw a man wearing a blacky, browny glove with a very, interesting eagle on the top of a huge building . I climbed up all of  stairs  they cracked and creaked  it took like about five minutes  . It felt like ages though. I got  to the top  and the eagle caught my eye .

I kneeled down behind a humongous concrete block .Sadly the man saw me at least I thought it was sad. The man mumbled “Would you like to help me and hold Screech.” He elaborated and said “Screech is my eagle.” It was a magnificent that day

As I got older I remember that time I grew up. I always thought it was my chance to go paragliding. One day I believed in myself I finally got the top of a mountain and I put a Squirrel suit on. I jumped and close my eyes.

After I jumped I opened my eyes I didn't know why I did not believe in myself. Now because I felt good about myself I can’t really remember the bad times now. Just good ones.

What a great person the man with the grey hair was and his eagle screech. He is the reason I jumped off the big Mountain and I believed in my dreams.
